Checkerboard Ball Events Listing, Timeline, On-Site Participants

Last update 12.9.22 added bits to events as new adopts are written; 9.28.22 finalizing things; Earlier 8.24.22 Split pickup and Events page, some minor adjustments and links (note that some off-site links may or may not be correct as people move their stuff around, ask on the discord if any confusion arises due to old or broken links)

The festivities start in earnest around 7 hours until midnight. However, that was mainly warm ups, groups showing up, dinners being started. Dancing begins around 6 hours to midnight, and hardly stops except for the moments when dragonets are being shown off. Don't worry, if your group shows up 'late' any dragons going with them will be able to hold out long enough!

It's obvious that the clutches 'requiring' bonds hatched longer ago than might normally have been considered 'safe' for them to be without partnership. But due to the nature of the event, delaying an 'on hatching' bond is not only possible but necessary.

Generally speaking, Pieces (the full clutches) as well as Knockoffs come out around the same time. However some knockoffs are present during the entire event even before arrivals.

There is a large obsidian and silver clock above the biggest stage, easily visible to anyone who is in proximity to the ball room itself, plus there are smaller ones scattered around in each major chamber. (Note that the Draconic side's is onyx and quartz?) They only show a countdown - The word Midnight being where 12 traditionally is, and 6 at the bottom being the only 'clock' number. (This is most certainly a modified Healing Den sign, since the parking lot and entry way always had a sign specific to whatever event was going on there, to make sure you're at the right one.) There is only one silver hand on the clock, and it doesn't move when anyone is looking at it. Even with a thousand eyes on it, not one single person has seen it move. (Not even you, Keenan, shut up, you did not.) That is: until the final countdown, when all eyes will very clearly see a second hand appear, ticking down. No one knows if these clocks kept any time before the first guests were formally allowed into the venue. Also no one knows why it didn't just use the whole face with numbers spread out, and Baeris is the only person who openly questions it. It does not answer, the Den's like that sometimes. Even the Stage kept its mouth shut. (And the Stage would have normally been quite insistent on more accurate timetables, being used to performance times and all.) It seems like the Labs were more concerned with just getting the Knockoffs up and available, and probably had to be tapped on the metaphorical shoulder in order to even check out the results of its labor.

Note well that though the event is 2021-2022, people from literally any time frame will be here, and will return to their home correct and proper time on leaving. No year is specified on the clock, though it definitely is on the invites and goodies... why does it not use 2022? Who knows. Maybe the Den, Stage, and Labs have been working on this longer than people think. (Or maybe Shard just had a major brain fart and never celebrates the next year because everything happens at midnight the year before... Shard has made extra logos with 2022 if people need them...)

*Notes The Casino and Main venues both have multiple stages and orchestral / band sections, and there may be up to four musical events going on at the same specific time; The Stage, meaning the main event's central stage, hosts one event at a time with short breaks, and during those breaks the floor orchestra will pick up the pace on dancing or musical interludes. The area has magical muting around the orchestra, and to a modest extent the bar and food areas.
The Dragon area, being considerably larger, has more easily distinguished 'cavern' spots that magically hold their own for noise reduction.
"All" refers to the duration of the event, rather than one which only goes for an 'hour'; also note that 'hours' here are very, very not 60 minutes.
**Impromptu Performance Between shows at the end of Hour 2, rather than the Animal People Playhouse taking their cue, it turns out there are not one or two but four Idol-style bands attending the event, and it is while the Stage is getting prepped for their Hour 1 presentations that... they all decide to have a dance-off. The performance is much bigger than just a couple people: Love♥Letter, a six-boy team; Question Marks, a five-boy squad; Diamond Divas, a four-girl team; and No Space Between Us, a six-person crew! While the lead singers square off with their best crooning, and the backup vocalists add their amazing harmonies, a wide assortment of exotic and unusual instruments are pulled out (seemingly from nowhere) for the music. The orchestra pit has no idea what's going on, but they're happy to sit this one out, as The Stage apparently finds this all very amusing and for the time being even the ballroom's lighting and sound dampening system changes to allow them to perform down on the floor. The fact that almost all of them have little assistants in the form of dragons only aids their performance. The clear winners of this dance off? The audience!

Services and Attendees
Greeters Mary Castillo, Rapture logistics, here with Topographic Tide; serving humanoid guests with maps of the venue and making sure that everyone knows where the restrooms are. She actually made most of the signage, knowing that people would need it.
Dr. HP Coomer (Bitty Version), Aperturth clone, here with Coffee Stain; excited little information-dumping tutorial, often found in the Casino flirting with virtually everyone, and occasionally offering the use of their "Super Player" feature, please don't take him up on it. We wanted Bitty version because he wasn't a massive burning boxing-glove-wearing AI on God Mode.
Iaa'bis ty Driaten Alamyr, here with The Stage; draconic greeter extraordinaire, also quite large so if you need to hitch a ride go right ahead she doesn't mind! Serving to show all dragons and near-dragons around their portion of the venue, as well as organizing the Stage's back areas.
Tour Guide

Gloriell, Rookery North Aperture Enclave tours, here with Sea-Mud Pearl Diver; though she is typically offering tours of the much larger North Aperture facility for new Rookery residents, she eagerly picked up a role here to guide folks to and from their destinations, specifically the Casino and balcony booths. Pearl Diver can be seen on the other side of the venue aiding dragons in the same manner, bringing them back and forth from the Spa and other such destinations.

Topographic Tide, Rapture Bathysphere System, here with Mary Castillo (residents); Exterior tours for both dragons and humanoids, safely tucked into bathyspheres for the little ones, and any dragons that can withstand the pressure outside can tag along. Those who cannot handle pressure or deep-sea water can be given magical 'bubbles' for the tour. This tour goes over Rapture's existing domes and cityscape, and shows off the natural beauty of the deepest sea. If you're very lucky you might spot your friends inside the domes through the big windows!

Shipsinger, here representing her ship the Avalon Wayfarer, with Celerity, Cynosura, and Arasta, Star-based exterior lightshow and planetary visuals, performing tours 'outside' the venue visible on at least two, often four, of the ballroom's main windows. So if you see a vast array of stars or planets that seem to be moving, they are moving and they absolutely are real views from just outside her ship as she moves it through time-space.

Coat Check Wilson Carver, because he is everywhere, and has extensive experience tailoring things for the Convocation and Pantheon. No really, he literally has downloaded skillsets that have been reinforced for decades, since their world went to hell no one else is doing it so why not? He will spruce up your outfit, make sure it's comfortable, and then send you to the dining area for some of his snacks...
Fantell, Rookery silk weaver and flitter attractor, here with Silkwing Solaris; she's quite happy with the sashes and ties that she was requested to make for the event, and if you don't have one, here, this one will do perfectly!
Lord Noone of Whitemark Manor, here with bronze white Ylpeath (lord, dragon); if you think you're going to enter the finest ballroom and sample the finest foods and dance to the finest music drinking the finest wines... you'd best be standing still while Noone places his own spin on your wardrobe, usually capes and shoulder-adornments. The same goes for the dragons, though please do not mistake Ylpeath for a mere servant, he is very much on par with his beloved rider's skills.

Alcohol Bars

The main ballroom's wet bar is lengthy, almost like a normal sized location got copy-pasted several times to fit the large room. It is mostly black lacquer with silver trim, with some amount of checkerboard in the backsplash behind the sinks. Between sections there are very fancy fan-deco designs echoed here and there around the venue. Generally speaking there are seats only along the far left and right sides of the slightly-curved bar, as most of it is meant to be order-and-carry-away to your tables nearby. Service to and from the tables is provided by a number of wait staff, but the actual drinks are made by those below.

Brandy Racön, Crescent City Bartender and Carramba High instructor, Mixologist in main ballroom; you'll love being served by Brandy, because she loves serving you; and yes, she absolutely is a raccoon-kin, a lovely one at that.
Dr. Darnold, Rookery Bartender and Black Mesa Potion Master, Mixologist in main ballroom, here with feathered Icewing Potion; please don't ask about his penchant for calling drinks potions. He will tell you. Potion (the dragon) is an impressive addition and makes sure that the Draconic side of the venue has enough to drink, chilling the fountain and making sure the waterfalls are clean.
Wally Breen, Rookery Bartender and Psychologist, Mixologist in main ballroom, here with Orangesicle Cream-Gold Zukianth; the chatter and banter of clubs and cafes are his domain. Zukianth is every bit the queen and enjoys how much attention 'her' corner of the waterfall and fountain area is getting.
Triss Halford, Rookery Ranch bartender, Mixologist in the main ballroom, here with Icewing Ivory Shard; She's used to a more rustic locale, and her choice of 'wild west saloon girl' outfit proves it. Ivory Shard keeps the wine cellar (read: the area behind the bars) chilled at exactly the right temperature.
Dahey Silverdell, Caeligenus inhabitant, Mixologist in the main ballroom, here with nebula blue Banyath; Friendly and eager to get the right drink into the right hand, they both make everyone quite happy and at ease, Banyath guiding draconic arrivals to their ledges and giving any antagonistic folk pause for thought.
Denver and Misha duBois, Dawnlight Paniyan/Pernese versions, Mixologists in the main ballroom, here with bronze Bornoith and blue Ditith; they're a touch overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people here, but like all good bartenders they take it in stride. They have arrived with crates full of good local wines, and their dragons have assisted in hunts and organization.
Thaddius, Archmage and Innkeeper, Mixologist in the main ballroom, here with Alevahari Aisha and Siraz; with precognition and magic on his side, this hospitality expert will make sure your drink is topped and your meal is exactly to order - even if you haven't ordered yet. Aisha and Siraz are small catlike dragons who are quite capable of weaving through the ballroom to deliver those meals.
Drinks Dragons, Lantessama born, here thanks to Engel, Dav and Bri, and Kalkin, working the main ballroom; there are 20 of these flitters, all of them very adept with adding fruits, umbrellas, stir sticks, olives, and whatever else to the drinks passing by their station. They're a regular assembly line of fun mixed drinks!

The Casino bar is centrally located among the odd nooks and fluted floor plan, spreading a bit like an octopus by design so everyone can get their drinks easily and head back to their spot without having to weave around too much. It is done primarily in the local Rapture style, art deco in rich silver and black lacquer. However this bar has full seating available around several 'arms', so you're likely to have to wait to get a seat there.

Baryn, Ablan (Zekiran/Pernese) sommelier and vintner, Mixologist in Casino, here with Berry Blue Xyanlith; very traditional 'wine is best' type, he doesn't tend the mixed drinks at all, but he knows what planets have the finest grapes, fruits, berries, and ingredients, and he will definitely help you figure out what will go best with your chosen dinner! Xyanlith has helped with the dragon side hunting medium to small prey, so if there are emu and wherrie you're enjoying, it's because he caught them.
Hamed Vahdat, Rookery and Vault Earth bartender, booze maker, Mixologist in the Casino, here with white Zairth; Hamed actually distills his own particular Wasteland Cocktails and has brought a decent selection of them here to the Casino, and they are quite potent so please only get one...; Zairth, though still considered a weyrling by most standards, has been assisting over on the dragon side with making sure that everyone has food and knows where the fountains are.
Sovyl, Lantessama Finder, show-off cook, working the Casino, here with amber Aviat; flirtatious and talented, Sovyl handles much of the food needs in the Casino, as well as drinks, though mainly preparing and presenting the snacks - and he is a snack too, just ask him! Aviat is helping with the Speed Dating on the dragon side!

Assorted spots around the entire venue, both dragon and biped sides, have shadowy figures stuck in corners that offer 'goods'... Those goods are usually of the narcotic variety and may or may not affect the attendees in the same manner each time. If you decide to take any of these folks up on their offers do be sure about whether you can handle the results. After all, this is a long party, with lots and lots of people and dragons in it. Hallucinating might cause more trouble than you can deal with. There are also doorways and alcoves along the Casino hall as well as beside restrooms or exits, which do lead to 'crash rooms' where it's nice and dark, quiet, and safe. If you're going to partake, probably best to do so near one of those just in case.

Lunarwisp, Nightmourner, here with Photha el-Din; though he's definitely more refined than some here, Lunarwisp is on board to keep people happy and enjoying their evening and that includes having magical narcotics woven around them. This dragon will travel both sides of the venue.
Thicksnow, Nightmourner hybrid, here with Ishtan (Sanger); with similar powers to Lunarwisp, Thicksnow offers more energetic magic boosts that help dancers and acrobats do their thing long into the night.
Blaze, Aperturth to Rookery, here with Racer; a very conventional drug dealer, specializing in making people speedy. More than just coffee jitters (Jitter is his daughter don't get them confused) Blaze is a more than adequate chemist and creates his own concoctions. He's brought quite a few small pills and sealed jello shots (it's not just alcohol in those...) to distribute to humanoids only. Since he doesn't know what might happen if nonhumans or dragon types ingest these he specifically waits for the user to take them before moving on. He doesn't want to be held responsible...

Coffee Cafes

Scattered around the venue, even on the Dragon side, are kiosks and a somewhat fancy "Cafe On The Hill" shop. This is expressly because Lane loves coffee. He went as far as importing a mountain from an alternate dimension to his mansion grounds, for the hippies and carnies to tend. That's how much he loves coffee. You will love this coffee too, trust us on this. The folks running this cafe are a little odd, they are hippies and children of them (plus the fact that they also came with some of the Zlatari acrobats...), but they do enjoy having a focus like this. The coffees served here range from super-dark roast through barely-toasted in flavor, and all the bells and whistles of milk, soy, almond, goatmilk, 'whatever-nondairy', can be added. Additionally, some of their new companions have brought with them klah from Pern, super nice coffees from Paniya with chocolates from neighboring Catena Isle, and even zpara from Zekira in a variety of zing levels. Be aware that if you want non-caffeinated drinks, go grab some tea from the bar, because this shop doesn't cater to anything but high-vibration drinks... Do note that if you're trying to avoid the Lanes, give this place a pass because one or more of them will be here at virtually any moment. In fact they're starting to give the Sangers a run for their money as to how many of themselves are attending...

Ideal with Zeinyarlis Houten, this bespectacled hipster-type and his shapeshifting deer-dragon serve the Cafe as their main barista and order-caller (Zein has strong sonic powers after all and can project over even this venue's noise level).
Remi No-Nick with nightwing Cin(namon), handling all the beans and fresh-roasting, grinding, and prepping the ingredients; in fact Cin ... is their roaster.
Nisse with Asia, Remi's daughter and Zeinyarlis's relative, Asia (once known as A'nnaeja) is a size shifter and for the duration is the one taking large orders to tables, Nisse taking your order with a broad smile.
Droppi with cream Alskyran Aberenath, of Caer Paniya, House Chagga; skilled with the full range of coffee production, Droppi now can tap her dragoness to make sure that every Isle on Alskyr gets their share... or, of course, whatever you're having tonight? Aberenath is making herself known on the draconic side running small prey and specialty foods to and from the hunting area and the upper ledges.
Alohadan with aqua Sea Alskyran Paipaiess, Paniyan, Froth Bar; service with a super big smile, as the sea dragon helps gather tasty treats outside!
Legang with red Alskyran Biadth, Paniyan, Froth Bar; as pale as the lattes he likes to serve, thankfully Biadth no longer trips up so much while flying... she is over with the dragons doing who knows what...
Atasenne Benikos, Zekiran, Zerin/Stetil/Dirir; serving the Casino with the best in honey and ruby zpara, and also enjoying some of her own slot machines brought from Dirir.
Atasennes Dyrox and Taayrox Vahfru, mother and daughter, Zekiran, Kiran/Le'ret/Ski'nahket (that's Black Mesa on Zekira btw); Vahh's interest in the event is hardly limited to the dragons that he's brought potential bonders for. These two colorfully marked tech elves are his own descendants, they know first hand what kind of zpara fits which moods.

Kitchen

With an entrance tucked away in the 'far' corner of the venue, actually a nook beside the ballroom floor and somewhat near the Dragon sided archways, as well as numerous other connected doorways to the Casino and other locales, the kitchen here is not nearly as large as you'd imagine for such a big event and surrounding venue. That's not to say it's small, but it definitely looks more like a high-end New York restaurant's back area, than a military mess hall. This is because it's actually The Vent (note that in this case the T there doesn't mean it's sentient like The Stage, merely that it's a trademarked venue in his dimensions...) belonging to Wilson Carver, and it has been known to serve parties this big across three or more dimensions at once. It's clean, but busy, so if you're in there, you're either going to be working or leaving shortly because visitors aren't really welcome back here go on shoo shoo back to the party with you.

Wilson Carver, Catering, Organization, one of the main organizers of the event and willing to work back here and in the security area as well as helping out with quick tailoring disasters as well as minor personal disagreements or issues... here with several raccoons, raccoon dragons, flits, and dragon Tashtinath lurking in the kitchen; he has expertise at comfort foods and catering; his nightclub The Vent providing meals for the heroes in Paragon City as well as those training up in Carramba High. Wilson did more prep-work and decisions about the menu than anyone else, logistics for arranging all that food in the area, and will know just where to put anything that's been left over (it'll go to the homeless shelters in Paragon City).
Cookie the Vort, Main Chef, Rapture local, here with xenodragon Candycorn; this Vortigaunt has become well known in Rapture for presenting uniquely created dishes using local sea life and the rarer goods brought in from the rest of the Rookery. From stews and soups to pasta and a sort of döner kebab, he'd be happy to hear what you think of all of the food tonight.
Athur Sina, here with Asandus Epalti Promontores; smack in the middle of things in the kitchens, both dragon and kelpie-shifter are able to make plenty of dishes, tonight they're handling salads and greens with tidbits of meat, be sure to sample it at the buffet table!
Santana Gomez, Pizza Girl of the Rookery, here with Leaf-Sand Oregano; notably serving spiced meat stir fry but will present pizza if desired. The spicy meat dish is, according to Wilson, absolutely five-star chef's kiss mwah.
Guy, Lantessama(ish), one of many chefs pulled in from various locations, Guy is neither overwhelmed nor particularly bothered by the volume of food required for this event.
Ermina, Deep Fry Chef (tonight anyway), Lantessama(ish), here with strawberry coral Framba and wisp Nojpeten; deep frying finger foods and whole plates of spicy meats, for both dragons and humanoids; with that little blue wisp on her shoulder able to control the temperature around her, she's very popular in the kitchen tonight!
Nge-wuun, Schatterneki, with Kmarna Skink, fresh from the Firecavern; draconic dishes served flamin' hot, because they're both spicy, and on fire! Some of the most unusual treats for dragons tonight are served up by this pair, and their 'spicy sno-cone' dish has been co-opted for human consumption.
Biscuit, whose specialty is cakes, cookies, and desserts, has made a special appearance at the Ball. Yes, he's a cat. But he's so cute!
An assortment (up to 10 of them) of humans, kin-morphs, and Vortigaunts doing most of the work; note also that there are several visiting groups here too, some of which find dragon partners!

Note that the draconic side 'kitchen' is much more of a 'hunting lodge meets meat locker' arrangement, and while there are quite a few prep areas with human/oid attendants slicing down large cuts of meat into bite-sized portions, a lot of the food here is essentially 'still warm' from the hunt. Dragons or dragon-adjacent beings who desire something more prepared (read: cooked) can absolutely ask the human sided folks for something! The areas covered by the active hunting zones include vast scrub desert, deep wooded hills, and icy steppes - all of these are on Zekira by the way. So while you're likely to find tasty deer and rabbit or cattle, there are also much weirder creatures to track and hunt. Some of them will hunt you back. Be wary.

Servers Alice duMont, Alice's Restaurant, Vault Earth; Though she's equally comfortable behind a bar, in a hot kitchen, or waiting tables, tonight she's organizing the servers and taking orders both from the edges of the ballroom floor, and up in the balconies.
Prudence, here with Seawing Indigo Wave, born to Carnies at Lane's Mansion; Her ability to balance on a high wire and do feats of strength are well known, and tonight she is handling the 'big dishes', able to adeptly move around dancers and drunk bar patrons alike with nary a spill even if she's piled high with dinner plates and soup tureens. Indigo is helping with the exterior tours, and is absolutely loving every moment she gets to flash her bioluminescent patches to attract attention where needed as the humanoids are in the bathysphere.
Coffee Stain, Mudwing, here with Coomer Bitty; every bit the polite food server, and though he's on the larger side (compared to the little dragons anyway) he never seems to spill the trays that he carries on a harness!
An assortment of Knockoffs primarily from Evocation Zone and Errick's brood, carrying trays or relaying information to the kitchen/bar, as well as around 30 humanoids from Rapture, Crescent City, and even a few from Zekira

Dragon Spa

A location that is both remote and connected to the venue, technically in 'The Bayou' near Black Mesa in New Mexico. For the duration of this event, it is always night time there, and the mudbaths and sauna are positively filled with dragons. There might be humans attending in the structures there but this is a dragon-specific spa day! The Mudwings normally cater to the injured and exhausted members of the Black Mesa Rookery's fighting forces, but for the moment they are very happy to be doing frivolous dragon care instead: preening, scale cleaning, claw and horn maintenance, feather fluffing, any dragon that wishes to 'get pretty' will definitely want to attend. There's room for at least a dozen 16' shoulder height dragons at a time, so virtually any number of smaller ones might be there at once. No booking in advance, no need - the venue's got it sorted.

Worrystone, Mudwing Sauna, here with Hamael Larrabie; this is 'his' venue for the most part, as he constructed the sauna itself. He is enjoying the popularity of the locale as a vacation spot rather than merely emergency healing.
EMD / Racer, Mudwing Healer, here with Leo Brune; among the strongest of the Rookery's Mudwing healers, EMD can take it easier tonight, and actually gets herself pampered a little too!
Violet
, Mudwing healer, here with Vance Fettel; mainly doing the heavy lifting and prep work of gathering enough mud for everyone, her magic is touching everything tonight!
Burrow, Mudwing healer, here with Lee Harding; as the clean-up dragon, she makes sure that every bit of mud or dirt is gone before a dragon goes back to the fancy dance hall. But she does leave that dust with a bit of a tingle, even a shine!
Mudpots, Mudwing healer, here with Orlan Holmes; sprinkling a bit of dirt over any wingsail, Mudpots is the one you'll want to make sure that there are no rips or tears in wings and webbing.
Steepside, Mudwing healer, here with Kono; having created the companion piece to Worrystone's Sauna, the 'drive through dragon healing hut' is where the dragons from the Ball will douse themselves thoroughly and then head into the deeper areas.

Henna Art +

Artistic pursuits in this venue are somewhat limited, mainly coming in the form of the goodie bags and collectable souvenirs. However there are several artists who have put their skills to use. Even if henna normally takes a while to dry, once they're done, your artwork will remain undamaged until you want to actually remove it later at home.

Una Darby, Oryx of Anerth and/or Twoarth, here with green Dosth; while she was 'human' when she impressed Dosth, she's absolutely an oryx 'again' now, and she uses her incredibly nimble hoof-hands to do airbrush work, and henna tattooing at the event. Her husband Zeb is also a dragonrider, and as he's a Zebra-morph he also fits right in (though he's not here on business or working for the event formally he usually winds up helping people who are getting their art done).

There are a small number of tattoo artists attending the Ball as well, and once they discover this part of the venue, booth space is opened for them to whip out their gear (why do people show up to things like this with a tattoo gun and ink?!)(for just such an occasion!) and give one another and whoever else wanders by a more permanent reminder of the event in their own distinct style.

Also present in this area are some very nice massage chairs, and even an on-site masseuse in the form of the Zeddian Xavier Xander Zoeller, who normally serves as an instructor at Carramba High for such things, and a couple of those attendants are his students earning their training credits.

Casino

Though it's not technically brought straight from New Vegas on Vault Earth, this casino mixes portions of the Gomorrah, Ultra-Luxe, Tops, and even the Lucky 38 along with local Rapture casinos Pharoah's Fortune and Sir-Prize. The layout is complicated, with two floors. The bottom level has numerous elegant grotto areas including the main stage and dance floor, surrounded by plentiful smaller tables suitable for couples. Booth areas frame the walls and divide major sections of the gambling halls. A money exchange is available directly beside the entrance and will take 'anything and everything', as the casino tonight relies on tokens that change back into [Your Currency Here] when you leave. Gambling on the first floor includes most of the card games anyone might be familiar with, and quite a few slot machines - those machines are tuned to be very quiet, though still there's a sizable amount of noise here. Upstairs there are billiards tables, some number of arcade and video games, dining areas splitting the place up, and on the other side from the first floor's, is the karaoke stage, also serving as the 'comedy club'. Though the place is fully 'art deco' in design, all of the colors have somehow been swapped - where most of Rapture's casinos are normally brass and copper, turquoise and lapis, and a lot of the New Vegas casino fittings are in suitably garish reds, greens, and neon, the Casino here is black marble and alabaster walls, trimmed in chrome and silver. There are still quite a few bright neon colors and lights, don't worry. At least one of the windows behind the main stage actually shows the Dragon Flight Dome, which is in use for the draconic side of the event! It's one of the few places where humans can get a glimpse of what's going on over there. Yes, the Casino has a 'strip club' with a pole - if you're brave and toned enough to dance on it, you'll be sure to go home with plenty of tips!

DJ Ruckus (Derek Rhodes), Aperturth and Vault Earth, here with Accent and his pair of dragonei; he and his boyfriend Logan run the New Vegas Tops casino, and with Rhodes' ability to manipulate and dampen or amplify sound has come in handy to make sure that the Casino here is not overwhelming for visitors.
Logan Locke, Aperturth and Vault Earth, here with Datyk; the more technical side of the Casino is Logan's domain, he makes sure that the machines are paying out properly and not being futzed with. Datyk keeps her draconic eye on things and can easily fix machines when they're misbehaving.
Brell, Rookery ELL brought to Vault Earth, here with Light Fury Blush; though Brell and Blush are both technically 'physical experts' in New Vegas, Brell is working the card tables, as Blush is organizing the meet and greet and speed dating events over on the draconic side.
Tracy Downing, Triptych (bat/lemur/okapi) originally Paniyan, here with black Xcritecu ("exxcy") who is working the dragon areas (running the Hide and Seek event), and Unitsila Kiona (below); With hands that are as nimble as a lemur's, it's no wonder that Tracy is working the card tables at the Casino!
Unitsila Kiona, here with Tracy and Exxcy; since she doesn't really 'get' how to play cards, Unitsila is working the booths and tables as a server, but also keeping her eye on things for Wilson and Frankie, as a shapeshifter she can get away with being 'almost like a guest here', so she spots any untoward actions from those guests.
Velenis, Space-born human, Twoarth; a master of the pole dance routines and organizing the show in that rather sequestered room, don't try passing yourself off as an adult if you're not 'mature in [beautiful your area]' because there's magic that will definitely prevent you from even seeing this part of the venue if you're not...
Sivoney, jackal-kin, formerly-human Zekiran-Pernese now settled on Dragondeep, here with green Odoruth; taking to the smaller performance stage with exotic veil dances and even a dangerous saber dance!
Atasan Zyvil, Zekiran; he's used to the fast-paced and very busy casino and restaurant lifestyle what with his connections to the Kshau Racing Circuit on his homeworld, and he's brought unique card games as well as a batch of servants to help with food and maintenance duties; notably if he's in the warm casino area he's a shiny shade of peach - he just looks like an oiled-up redhead, but if he goes out to the ballroom to cool down he turns a gemtone green and blue scheme.

Shooting Gallery

Though this place is not technically on the venue's information packet, it absolutely exists. It exists because the Lanes needed to make sure that trouble makers like Mars and Thomas had an outlet for their energetic drunken behaviors. It is echoed on the dragon side in a more formal arrangement because they actually get an event geared to sharpshooting and explosive power displays. The human-sized version is a slice of a professional target range, lifted essentially from the one found in Black Mesa. The area is strictly 'byog' and if you didn't show up with weapons 'uyop' (use your own powers). There is no booth or weapons check, no waiver. A number of lanes fit for single-person shooting have had their paper targets replaced with physical dummies. Brave souls go back into the area to replenish the bottles and other such items that are being shot at. It's dark, grimy, filled with smells of smoke and primer, alcohol, and a little bit of weed...

Dr. Mars Walsh, Rookery explosives expert, here with Jurr ha-yit'sah (Lightfoot); she is drunk as a skunk and can still toss grenades with precision
Thomas Page, Rapture local...ish, here with Karph; generally uses this sort of shooting range to test the equipment that's built on to his prosthetic limbs.

The dragon sided arena however is a much larger and airy version. Having been assembled properly and using quite a bit of protective magic as well as clever design, the range extends almost half a kilometer though everyone knows a lot of the participants could easily hit things much farther away (everyone side-eyes those dragons gloating). The conditions of the area can be altered using magic, so it can be completely dark, foggy, loud, or with simulated environmental interruptions or targets. The range will see quite a bit more use than merely for the contest in Hour 4, it's open the entire time.

Batasi Sikani, Zekiran Ferilon-Myrsilk mutt, here with Bruce Ronaldson; with his ability to dampen psionic power as well as use wind power, and healing, Batasi is ideal for a host in this venue.
An assortment of dragons that have strong magical controls are also in attendance to make sure things work smoothly

Dragons Only

Meet and Greet - the dragons of many riders are here, along with dozens of others to perform and perhaps expand their connections between worlds and dragonries. Get to know your fellow dragons, in this informal 'hi I'm' gathering in the main portion of the cavern. Keep in mind that not all dragons are magically gifted or speak the same languages, so dragons are encouraged to be patient with one another.

Draconic Magic Demonstrations - going on all through the event, dragons are encouraged to show off their magical talents. From simple levitation spells to complex summonings (please be careful), this is a sequestered area near the divider between biped and draconic locales and is heavily protected. Spots to watch big explosive spells, as well as smaller nooks for instructions and question-and-answer sessions are provided. There is no set time for any given dragon's performance, so all night long the place will be changing. Notably appearing here will be several dragons who have offered to help instruct newly hatched dragonets who require magical guidance. Myrah'Care, Nekeel'akel, Bethoi Kwaturr, and several other mentors are available to aid in perception, blocking 'noise', psionics, and magic spells. These tutoring sessions may span months or years, if arrangements are needed.

Hide And Seek - 'stealth and pursuit tactics' are very common among dragons, for hunting, protection, and of course mating rituals. The area this is taking place in might not be fully contained within Rapture, in fact probably is several worlds, but shhh, they've taken care of that. From deep forests to open grassland, urban settings, and shadowed caverns, dragons will pursue one another and attempt to evade 'capture'. There will be prizes (generally 'food' or 'do you like shiny things', but might range into scrolls or books, furnishings, attire, etc - depending on who wins) for those who hide the best, or seek the most. Every dragon can apply, but it's a sure bet that those with invisibility spells, illusions, or shapeshifting will likely be best at hiding. ** After writing up a few things, Cavespeaker Nightscale (Phe's) is the overall winner of this event!

Headcount (hydra) - though there are only a few true hydra here, keeping track of whose head is doing what might be of interest to those who have never met them. But what do you call the 'spare' heads? Do they make their own decisions? Do you argue with yourself? All those questions and more should be fielded by experts - those with plenty of heads. While many hydra can be considered dangerous even to their own kind, this venue is making sure that no one gets hurt (permanently anyway) should tempers start to flare.

Speed Dating - when this many dragons get together in one place, there are bound to be hits and misses. But any of them desiring a quick introduction and question session to maybe possibly determine whether they'd be appropriate for any future 'dates' should attend these. There are obviously spots for those who decide to get right on that, sequestered in the ledges with some amount of privacy-magic to ensure that no one barges in. For those who require more space, such as for flights, there is a specific exit which opens out to the Aerie - an island loosely connected to Rapture, with strong North Atlantic winds to fly on, and a good 20 square miles of ground to fly over. You'll be assured of actual privacy up there, no onlookers unless there's dragons peeping you.

Deep Sea Hunt (exterior) - Since this venue is literally at the bottom of the ocean under the Aerie, it's surrounded by a great amount of sea life. Fish tend to grow quite large out here, and there are... invasive species which while they're not necessarily good to eat (according to humans) they might be quite the delicacy for dragons. Those who can breathe under water and find their way in the utter darkness are preferred for this, but dragons who can magically adjust their bodies, or perceive things without the need for light can also attend. Notably any intelligent creatures such as dolphins, whales, and cephs have been warned away and will not be hunted.

Draggin Wrasslin - you read that right. While this leads somewhat smoothly into the actual battle demonstration later, quite a few of the more urban dragons have decided to put on their show here tonight. Normally seen in Talon City hosted by **, this pits colorfully costumed dragons against one another in semi-scripted fights, and follows a narrative about them in the background. Any interested participants might be able to get a few hours of training (to avoid damage and not mess with the costumes) and join the fun.

Mock Battles - And here is the main reason a lot of dragons are eager! Whipped up by the Wrasslin show, carefully selected dragons may participate in size- and skill-based fights. They are carefully monitored for any permanent damage by numerous magically and psionically aided referees. The spectacle of dueling but also a final free for all will absolutely amaze and thrill the audience. This event can be watched in the Casino on at least one 'sports show' video screen.

Dragon Magic Show - With an eye toward dueling, illusions, and flashy magic, a group of highly talented dragons will be putting on a demonstration of fantastic proportions. The variety of magic performed here includes wild magic, simple and complex verbal spellcasting, summoning, and foci-based. Obviously the stage for this event has been heavily warded and protected by numerous very strong dragons. That might not prevent all the side effects from reaching the audience, so be prepared to duck now and again.

Draconic Revue - One of the rare 'both sides get to see this' performances, with the smaller dragons on the main Stage performing their own parts, and visible to the humanoids via screens behind them on the Stage, are the bigger dragons here. Complicated footwork, clever wing postures, color changing and dragon-made 'splosions aplenty.

Aerial Dance - The exterior of some parts of Rapture have been domed over and drained, leaving at least one massive area for air-breathers to stretch their wings and fly. This entrance is directly connected to the caverns where the event is situated for the rest of the night, and is actually open the entire time, sort of an outdoors 'smoking tables' zone. But for this last hour of the evening, it's dedicated to a massive and complicated dance show. This isn't necessarily where you want to suddenly decide to learn to dance, however, because with dragons going every which way in the air, collisions are almost guaranteed. It's also very, very loud, as most participants are also going to be singing, bellowing, and growling their way aross the area.

Fireworks Show - Providing the final big blast of the evening on both sides of the venue, the Healing Den's large parking lot has been opened to the public, and in this case the public mean 'dragons' who will let off choreographed blasts of fire, sparks, steam, and ice, all to make the biggest Midnight sendoff the party could ever have. If your dragon friends wish to participate they should get a hold of Vegas, Baby! (that's her name don't wear it out) and Kizi who are organizing the lightshow. Depending on the flame color, type of effects, and expertise of the dragons who apply, dragons will be placed among specific teams and called upon to belch out gouts, clouds, or even straight up fireworks. This will be done to music provided by both draconic and humanoid musicians. This show will be seen from The Stage on the biped side, and is directly connected to the draconic side via the Healing Den.

Performances

Color Guard - though the entire group of Color Guard clones are not here tonight, a generous selection of them have opted to come from Carramba and parts of the Rookery to perform an actual flag show, opening the night with a bang and a lot of flash (featuring Indigo, Crimson, Opal, Lilac, Absinthe, Crocus, Ochre, Carnelian, Dahlia, Coral, Henna, Ivy, Onyx, Burgundy, Citron, Cerulean, Steel, Sky, Marina, Mauve, Cinder, Iridia, Pearl, Prisma); then moving into a performance of garage-band styled tunes - Shale and Umak (vocals/guitar, strings/sounds); Pearl and Kizi (vocals, lighting); Soren Sanger (vocals/instruments); others tbd/unknown yet.

Mixology - Also known as 'Alchemy', a fantastic blend of bar-room bottle tossing and chemistry explosions, something akin to Slo-Mo Guys fused with the Blue Man Group; featuring Curacao Sanger and Vaporwave, Midnight and Jeram Sikani, Absinthe and Feighraur, Dr Darnold and Potion, Ivano and Seticeth, Thaddius with Aisha and Siraz; the dragons generally help manipulate liquids, freezing or steaming them, moving them around, and mitigating any explosive damage being done (which is... considerable, really).

Animal People Playhouse - having arrived with not just The Stage, but their many large fluffy Murus Lemur Dragons! They put on brief intermission shows while the Stage is preparing for its next event. Often moving off the physical stage and into the ballroom, these folks sing, dance, juggle, pratfall, and banter with style and fur (and feathers, and scales). Their dragons do essentially the same thing on the Draconic side of the venue on a larger scale.

Dragon and Flitter Stunt Team Demonstration - Brought from a combination of Healing Den and Carramba High sources, this team is composed of students who have either a small dragon bond or flitters to command. They put on feats of colorful agility normally outdoors but their smaller scale event is just as fun to watch (until...). (Current roster TBD but includes Yessula Vanelis and her black flitter, who features in Bug's roster now)

Rookettes - Stylish mostly-a cappella quartet (plus dragons) with a focus on blues and sultry slow dancing, though they have been known to do lilting jigs and even some amount of uplifting gospel tunes now and then - Rhea Mercer and Spyrogyra (vocals); Raven Lane (vocals) and Algaebloom (low-freq. percussion); Siren Mercer (vocals) and Blue Velvet (subsonic vocals); Liesell (vocals) and Marquee ('saxophone' sonic).

Aerial Stunt Teams - a number of semi-competitive groups from across the Nexus were given time to perform in the tall main ballroom, including some from the Empyrean Stair, Carramba High, and the Coffee Grounds. High wire, trapeeze, rope and ribbon dangling, and even winged and levitating stunts. Performing without a net, this will thrill and delight everyone! Imagine whShipat they'll do once many of those teams find dragons!

Solos - how exactly can a group of people be Solos? Well, they will show you in a fantastic space-journey! The background is real, they really are standing on a strange grid of asteroids surrounding a black hole. The Stage is actually right there too, please remain on the dance floor and don't try to rush them, you probably won't survive. Their dragons, a wide variety of breeds, make appearances both in and out of the venue - sometimes seen through the windows, usually the ones not showing the sea. During their performance, Shipsinger guides a tour which ends at their Grid.

Draconic Revue - more or less a fashion show of smaller sized dragons, who may stun and amaze with their breath weapons, magic, or flight techniques above the stage; accompanied by music created and performed by those same dragons! The larger dragons can be seen beyond on the big screens, as these littler ones are similarly broadcast on screens in the dragon area.

Errick, Evocation Zone*, and Aria - Operatic styling with a draconic flair, performing both tragedy and triumphs from several well-known operas and musicals; Evocation Zone has strong sonic control, but prefers to work the backgrounds and props, she will do one song though!

Galactirock - Dodging Vocorr is hard work, and this intergalactic rock band is taking a well-deserved break from being revolutionaries in order to just jam with their friends! Their music is a mixture of Bollywood and hard rock, with odd alien traditional instrumentation and a little smooth jazz thrown in. Featuring Brantian (crestone/eigenharp), Ija Djon (psionic keyboard), Arick and Coelestaad (drums/percussion) and Piralan Oester (chimes) and Asana Reno (sound magic), Lareen (bass guitar/vocals), Pirate (guitar/vocals), and Lightshow and Sholusoilseth with ... a lightshow!

Zlatari Acrobatic Performance - this is what happens when those stunt teams have dragons! The Zlatari family is known for many things; bright and colorful dragons, twins, complex juggling, and acrobatics. The Stage seems quite a bit like a carnival tent, and the distinct smell of popcorn drifts through the air while they are performing. Their dragons provide both props and backgrounds, as well as the occasional gout of flame to leap over.

Duets and Songbirds - A more intimate set of single-instruments and singing; with Helios and his human friend Apollo; Harrison and Big Momma croon; Pan and Royal do a duet; Calypso and Mesmer quietly dazzle. All in all it's a lull in the activities, slow dancing and last food orders being delivered to balconies and tables while these pairs (and some others) show off their balladeering.

Drag Show - to top off the evening, a superb and flashy drag show featuring performances by Miss Sanguine, Yodel Hidalgo, and a dozen other flashy queens! This will bring us to the countdown and midnight!

Medical

The single unassuming double-door leading to the infirmary here actually does lead directly into one of the Den's human-oriented facilities, rather than to the ones in Rapture. That's because Baeris took one look at the state of things there and turned on her heel to sort it out with Keenan. The number of nopes out of her mouth was impressive. Her facilities are clean, well lit, and not filled with half-rotted remains of crazy Splicers or off-the-hinges doors...

Baeris Kshau can certainly be tapped for medical emergencies should there really be any, but she's more here as a hostess, diplomat, not a healer tonight.
Likewise, Kalkin is here to shove genetically engineered flitters at everyone, giggling madly - which is something he tends to do when he wants to spread a little chaos here and there... But really, if you need emergency care either of them is very well suited to the tasks. Dulath and Sixth are definitely attending, but because both of them are quite small they usually stick with their human bonds and not over on the Dragon side.

Jr. Officer Mateo Jimenez, here with red Fiksproth, Twoarth; Along with several of the other EMTs from Talon City's fire department, Mateo is working on his latest degree (pharmacy tech), and will be the one doing triage in case anything dire occurs. Fiksproth knows quite a bit of draconic 'first aid' as well, having served with her rider on many emergency flights.
Orlan Holmes, Followers of the Apocalypse of Vault Earth, here with Mudpots; heading up one of the small on-site teams for any human-specific injuries and first aid.
Malai, here with brown Jalentir, for furries, Kin, animal-splices, and similar types; heals with magical spells as well as practical knowledge. Also he's perfect for the venue, as his fur is grey and black!
Zyup Ksh'aiqi, a Zeddian medical expert with a good eye for hidden issues, who has enough psionic power to fix broken bones or internal injuries as well as determine whether there are racial characteristics others should tackle.
Leo Brune, here with EMD (... Racer, but Emergency Medical Dragon is her preference), Rookery; able to accelerate natural healing in a patient using his Vortal powers, Leo is going to be on the dance floor casually fixing blistered heels and stubbed toes like crazy tonight. EMD is up with the other Mudwings in the Bayou tonight.
Louhi ve Vanwanar of the line of Perun, dragon healer, here with human Kellogg Vahh ; Louhi is a very strong draconic healer, just stay on her good side...Kellogg isn't here for healing, but he may collect samples >_>

Security

Keenan Lane, several of him - he's giving the Sangers a run for their money with the multiplicity; whether you see them or not, if they notice anything out of place, from any dragonets being harassed or skulduggery in the area, to badly timed invasion forces or incursions, they're on it:
--Repurposed Keenan with Denhadarvahth is the considerably friendlier version, and the one who has been arranging most of the meetings;
--Local Lane
, we hesitate to say 'with' Pharoah, remains highly sinister and stand-offish, even if he's being 'friendly' you should thank your lucky stars he is taking his cues from his counterpart tonight;
If either of them catch shenanigans on their way, the party will not know about it - and even if the party did see anything, they won't remember it...
--Others include Kallah Vahh of Zekira, who has brought several potential bonders or dragonmasters and can only be distinguished from the other two Lanes by being a head taller than them;
--Nachos California, Paragon hero and Carramba High math teacher here with Myrsilk/Danachian Qutobi'carr and a number of students under his wing, and even if he's in his fanciest 'costume' it's still of note that he smells like Fritos and salsa;
--Knot Leaf Kale Baah, bovine from fur-side Twoarth, also a Carramba professor but more interested in the technology for 'his' Black Mesa facility;
--Shortcut Along the Ancient Path, a 'Tabaxi' ... who is absolutely not a cat, he's a displacer beast shifter, but he does have a dragon bond in green Dewkith here. He and Ravenheart keep glancing at each other like they've met, but that can't be, right? Shortcut isn't even from Dragondeep but he now resides there...
--Lane Ravenheart, Shifter Kin from Dragondeep, assassin and spy, who knows what he'll be doing here, but he's brought a pack of his own offspring to meet and greet high-end leadership and low-end thieves or bounty hunters;
--Probably others, but they all tend to look the same and act similarly spooky. And if you yell 'it's a mystery' loud enough, about half a dozen of them will look up.
While Wilson Carver is technically security too, the Lanes are handling much of the real work. Wilson is there to look scary if needed, particularly if Frank has to do any bouncing...
Frank Frost, Aperturth and Vault Earth, here with Spiritwing Magpie and Silkwing Adonis, Casino; running the Casino's events personally, as well as the main security contact there, Frankie and Wilson often play off each other - shoulder angel and devil, but which one is which? Fankie's the one in white... But you should not trust him. The dragons are working the other side of the event, elegantly making certain that fights don't break out that will result in any lasting damage - or at least, are done in the right setting.
Nita Burt, Aperturth and Vault Earth, here with Fentodelith; Casino security for one of the New Vegas strip locales taken over when the Rookery arrived there, Nita is a sharpshooter and knows what you're doing with your cards up that sleeve.
Brimley Norwood, Rapture local 'cop', main ballroom, here with Seawing Urchin who is also working the dragon side; Brimley is about as whitebread as you can get, and that's saying a lot. But he's having fun, and will definitely look the other way if you're not hurting anyone. The moment that changes, he's on you like a hawk.
Boxy the Vort, Rapture local maintenance, here with Sea-Icewing Clue; he will definitely be keeping his eyes (all four of them) on visitors, but is quite friendly.

Maintenance Matt Perkins, Rapture local maintenance, here with Leaf-Seawing Squeegee; making the Rapture facility heating serve this volume of space is challenging, but he is up to the task.
Sweepy the Vort, Rapture local maintenance, here with Illumination, who you might see Outside; don't really bother him please, if you need directions or information go check the front desk.
Jon Dewok, Repurposed Reborn current Rapture maintenance, here with Seawing Beroe; yes he does look like a 'plumber' that appears in a porn, but we assure you he is quite capable of repairing any of the biped-sided restroom facilities if they break down.
Takeshi Yoshida, Repurposed Reborn, Rapture and Rookery maintenance, here sort-of 'with' Slither, who is outside watching tours go by; able to manipulate matter means that any spills or solid waste that manage to soil the area are simply turned into something else, rearranging it into easily moved material.
Parece Sutter, Rapture local maintenance, here with slate Loomleth (who fits in nicely with the dragons at the Ball in that color!); should any structural damage occur particularly in the Casino area, Parece is able to slap a coat of sealant or boards and make it look just as good as ever until it can be permanently fixed later.
